INGREDIENTS

pinto beans water ham hocks yellow onion garlic chicken bouillon bay leavf serrano or jalapeno  chili powder black pepper cayenne pepper seasoning salt

Combine water, ham hocks, onion, garlic, chicken bouillon, and bay leaves in a large pot over high heat. Bring to a boil. Cover, and reduce. Cook for 1 hour.

MAKE A BROTH

Taste broth and season if needed. Add beans, peppers, chili powder, black pepper, and cayenne. Stir and simmer on low heat for 2 to 3 hours.

ADD BEANS

Remove pot from heat and let sit for 1 hour to thicken. Serve with some flavorful broth. Include meat from ham hocks for extra deliciousness.
